Another Successful Hillsborough Pride Downtown Clean Up
Hillsborough, NH May 3 rd - The damp and dreary weather did not stop community volunteers from participating in Pride's 2008 Downtown Clean-up Day on Saturday, May 3rd. Volunteers from the Office of Youth Services, North East Tai Karate, Pride members and our Hillsborough residents spread out all along our main street, at Grimes field, on Sawmill and Barden Hill Rd, on a portion of 2 nd NH Turnpike, and throughout the downtown district collecting 2 large trailer loads of trash. After the volunteers spent several hours picking up garbage in the rain, Pride warmed them back up with some hot chocolate and some delicious pizza provided by Viksters.
"Many surrounding businesses and residents have already been busy tending to their own clean up," states David Fullerton, Pride volunteer and organizer of the event. "Many businesses that we contacted have already cleaned up or have scheduled their own clean up at a future date and we thank every single one of them for their participation in keeping our main street looking clean."

"We wish to sincerely thank each and every one of the businesses and residents who participated in Pride's clean up day and also to those who initiated their own clean up along our main street. Your pride for our town is very evident and makes a fantastic statement that we are a town that cares about our community," states Paula Simpkins, Pride director. "We also wish to acknowledge those of you who take the time to clean up in your neighborhoods as well. We see you out there setting a great example and making our community a better place for everyone."
We also send a special thanks to the Town's Road Crew who did an excellent job of removing the sand and other debris in the downtown, to the Hillsborough Transfer Station who accommodated us in disposing of our numerous bags, to the NHDOT for donating the trash bags, and to the Hillsborough police who had an active cruiser in the area during the event.
